Experienced program director to head large tech transformation in BEC

BEC Financial Technologies welcomes Freddie Sachmann as leader for its Tech Transformation Program, which is to modernize the technology platform of a large community of Danish banks.

Freddie Sachmann joins on October 15 as program director of an extensive transformation program in the big Danish fintech company BEC Financial Technologies which delivers IT to approximately 25% of the Danish banking sector.

”Freddie Sachmann has extensive experience within transformation and management. He is going to lead a new technology transformation program across BEC, which will help position us as the leading fintech integrator for Danish banks,” says Jesper Andersen, chief technology officer in BEC Financial Technologies.

Freddie Sachmann joins BEC from a position as program director and member of group management in Coop. Here he was heading the extensive IT transformation ’Coop One’. Prior to his 11 years in Coop, he spent 10 years with Deloitte.

”I’m really looking forward to becoming part of the technological transformation for the Danish banks who collaborate in BEC. It’s a unique Danish and very strong way that competing companies collaborate like this on fundamental infrastructure in our modern digital society – and, in addition, uniting around continuing to raise their technological ambitions and competitiveness,” says Freddie Sachmann.

BEC Financial Technologies is owned by 17 customer banks including Nykredit, Spar Nord, and Arbejdernes Landsbank. The owners are also customers in the fintech company that has 1700 employees in Denmark and Poland.

Shift of strategic focus in BEC

The modernization of BEC’s technological foundation is a core element in a long-term strategic transformation of BEC. The company has recently, as an example, outsourced operations and management of existing IT solutions to Accenture and JN Data, while scaling up on integrating of new technologies from partners – for example in the development hub Scoutz, which develops the advisory universe for BEC-banks on the cloud platform Salesforce.

“We are on a journey where we move away from having one central, monolithic platform, which we have built ourselves, to an open platform, where we primarily integrate solutions that we buy from bigtech and fintechs. It’s an ambitious, complex, and long-term transformation, and Freddie Sachmann is, with his experience from Coop og Deloitte, the right person to lead us through this,” says Jesper Andersen, who himself joined BEC and BEC’s executive board on. January 1.
